Dragon Boat Racing for Local Breast Unit
20/06/2010
River Severn, Worcester
Worcestershire
On Sunday 20th June 2010, Andrea helped to fundraise for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign by competing in the 20th annual Dragon Boat Race on the River Severn in Worcester.
The team was drawn together by Karen Tomalin of 2nd Skin Lingerie. All team members, men & women, had to wear their bras on the outside to promote Karen’s latest campaign. She is hoping to break the world record for a Bra Chain to raise funds for Worcestershire’s Breast Unit. The bras will be sponsored to raise money for the Unit. When the record is complete, the bras will be donated to UK based women’s refuges.
Miss Worcester, Katie Sinclaire, joined in the fun. The ‘Bra Chain Gang’ were the only team to be complete novices on the water. Their times improved race by race and several paddlers have now got the bug to join Dragon boating on a regular basis. Special mention must go to Lorna Wood who volunteered as drummer for the team - not only did she look the part in a leopard skin bra & matching hat, but she was so brave to sit on the tiny, shiny seat at the front of the boat, and was great at helping us all to keep going. You can help Karen by:
donating your unwanted bras
sponsoring a collection box on your premises
