Measuring processes - managing by fact
Measuring performance in a business is easier than it sounds. Just as an athlete times their lap, or records their distances, a business can also record key results and associated data.
If you consider a business as an enterprise that consists of people following processess, and this all supported by technology (systems and data), then measuring the performance of key processess is the obvious starting point.
Each Business Process has an associated KPI to measure and monitor performance. We recommend a handful of KPIs are considered at any time, and each KPI is assigned to a 'champion' who is responsible for effecting change in the business in order to improve the performance of the business.
Most businesses already have KPIs, but they are not explicitly stated. E.g. sales figures, wastage, service delivery time, product efficiency, overdue invoices total as a percentage of annual income. By explicitly stating these, and assigning someone to monitor them, the staff can all participate in improving the business.
Real time performance measurement and feedback
KPIs are presented on a graph in real-time. This allows you to see problem areas improve over time, and demonstrate the benefit of our team's help. Users can drill-down into graphs and tables to see trends and patterns. The upper and lower thresholds are set, and this provides a baseline to see how the business changes over time.
